Our self catering holiday gite is 15 minutes from the Southern Brittany coast.

We are Paul and Lorraine Marshall originally from Leeds in Yorkshire and we always hoped to retire to the South of France; that is until we stumbled upon Les Jonquilles and knew immediately that this is where we wanted to live - sooner rather than later.

Paul and I had subscribed for a number of years to Living France, a magazine for Francophiles such as us and in the summer of 2006 we spotted an advertisement for a gite to let in Southern Brittany. I have to admit this was Paul's idea and I was really not up for it as I had never had any interest at all in visiting Northern France; I had visions of it being cold and uninviting, but went along with it as long as Paul understood there would be no house hunting expeditions, this was a holiday only - famous last words…..!

The gite was Les Jonquilles and after spending two nights in the gite I told Paul and the owners (Ken and Hilary) that I could happily live there, imagine our surprise when they told me that they were having a house built in a neighboring village and the whole of the property, the gite and the house was up for sale and when did I want to move in. The rest as they say is history and we signed the completion papers in November 2006, two weeks after we married.
